Senior Director, Operations Engineering

Join us in this role where you’ll lead, scale, and develop the Americas Onshore Operations Engineering team that supports wind, solar, and energy storage assets in operations. You’ll set the strategic direction, establish robust processes and standards, mitigate technical risk, and ensure exemplary regulatory and QHSE performance while driving continuous improvement across a diverse portfolio.

You’ll be part of the Americas Onshore Operations Engineering team, where you and your colleagues provide technical and engineering support during operations, work closely with cross-functional partners, and engage across markets in the Americas. We partner with Regulatory Compliance, Development, Energy Assessment, Transmission, Development Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Asset Management to deliver portfolio-wide excellence. As a team, we value collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • translating corporate strategy into medium- and long-term direction and a portfolio-level execution strategy for Onshore Operations Engineering in the Americas
  • establishing and maintaining processes, standards, and tools to proactively resolve technical issues and drive innovative engineering solutions with rigorous validation
  • leading QHSE and regulatory compliance, ensuring grid-response and cybersecurity compliance and documentation across the operating fleet·
  • overseeing OEMs, third-party engineering partners, and contractors, including technical issue tracking, causal analysis, and performance metrics  
  • providing data-driven feedback to development engineering and procurement to improve system design, commissioning, and technical documentation, integrating learnings from operations
  • building, mentoring, and managing the team, balancing resources across project phases, and engaging stakeholders through site visits, partner meetings, and customer interactions to minimise yield and availability loss. 

To succeed in the role, you:

  • bring 10+ years of renewable energy or relevant industry experience and a technical degree in engineering or a related discipline
  • have 10+ years’ experience leading teams, with strong coaching, resource allocation, and performance management capabilities
  • demonstrate effective decision-making under ambiguity and a track record of technical risk mitigation and operational excellence
  • possess deep knowledge of regulatory compliance, QHSE, utility interconnection, and grid and cybersecurity requirements
  • excel at cross-functional and cross-cultural collaboration with strong communication and influencing skills
  • have proven experience implementing processes, standards, and continuous improvement across complex engineering operations.
