Control Engineer

You’ll be part of the Power Control team where you, together with your colleagues, will manage the day-to-day operation of transmission and generation assets, liaise with key stakeholders, and support the delivery of safe, compliant, and efficient power generation. 

 

As a team, we collaborate closely, share expertise, and foster a supportive and solution-focused environment. 

 

You’ll play an important role in: 

  • managing Transmission Network Control for maintenance and ancillary services. 

  • liaising with critical stakeholders, including TSO, DNO, OFTO, and O&M providers. 

  • preparing and implementing switching programmes for maintenance works across Offshore Generations and Transmission assets. 

  • executing safe operation and escalation of alarms (SCS, protection, SCADA, LV, utility) and initial incident handling. 

  • gaining and maintaining specialist technical knowledge to support teams across regions and platforms. 

 

To succeed in the role, you: 

  • have solid understanding of Electrical Safety Rules and providing Safety from the System. 

  • have held previous Electrical Safety Rules Authorisations as a 400kV SAP or Control Engineer. 

  • have experience operating SCADA applications or equivalent experience. 

  • demonstrate a proactive approach to self-directed learning and continuous improvement. 

  • are comfortable working collaboratively and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, including NESO/DNO’s. 

  • possess excellent communication skills and fluency in English. 

  • are committed to safe, compliant, and efficient operations. 

 

This role is site based at our Hub in Barrow-in-Furness and follows a shift pattern that will include nights as well as days.

Position salary range:

60,000.00- 90,000.00 + pension + benefits
