HV Senior Specialist (66kv - 400kv SAP)

Join us in this role where you’ll provide High Voltage Specialist Services under the authorisation of the Orsted electrical safety rules from the turbine interconnection array cables at 34kv up to the 400kv grid connection points. You’ll carry out Operation and Maintenance activities to meet the UK Grid Requirements and also to provide a safe working environment for your colleagues working on site.

You’ll be part of Transmission and OFTO team where you, together with your colleagues, will play a key role in controlling, operating, and maintaining our HV electrical networks to consistently deliver renewable energy to UK’s electrical distribution infrastructure. Our department ensures the energy our wind farm’s produce can make its way to UK homes and businesses through meticulous adherence, grid code compliance, and continuous improvement of working practices to optimise the availability of our HV equipment.

As a team, we provide HV engineering services to all wind farms throughout the UK and drive collaboration globally to strive towards a world that runs entirely on green energy.

 

You’ll play an important role in:

  • servicing and maintaining High Voltage Equipment
  • carry out switching operations on equipment up to 400kv
  • produce switching schedules, safety documentation and work procedures for a variety of work activities on complex High Voltage Equipment
  • supervise internal and external engineers offering specialist services on both wind turbines and substation assets
  • participate in Team project, safety and improvement meetings to deliver Orsted Goals and ambitions
  • provide training to Orsted personnel to carry out HV switching operations of their own.

 

To succeed in the role, you:

  • Have complete a HNC in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Have been authorized to carry out High Voltage switching
  • Have experience with transmission, generation or renewable energy
  • Have experience of Control and Software systems to operating and interrogate high voltage electrical equipment
  • Have a proactive, result-oriented and systematic approach to your work tasks
  • are equipped with good communication skills and speak and write English fluently

 

Please note, this role including around 20% of travelling to substations/HV assets in Heysham, Liverpool and North Wales, Travel offshore via CTV and Helicopter.
