HV Senior Specialist

Join us in this role where you’ll oversee, operate, and troubleshoot our 34–400 kV transmission systems under the organisation’s electrical safety rules. You’ll ensure safe working conditions, grid‑compliant operations, and continuous improvement across UK assets.

You’ll be part of Transmission and OFTO team where you, together with your colleagues, will manage, control, and maintain our high-voltage electrical networks to ensure compliant delivery of renewable energy to the UK grid.

As a team, we work collaboratively to share expertise, support development, and strengthen global knowledge exchange.

 

You’ll play an important role in:

  • servicing and maintaining high‑voltage equipment across 34–400 kV systems
  • performing switching operations up to 400 kV in line with safety rules and grid requirements
  • preparing switching schedules, safety documentation, and technical procedures
  • supervising internal and external specialists across turbine and substation assets
  • driving operational improvements through project, safety, and technical initiatives
  • training colleagues to safely conduct HV switching under appropriate authorisation.

 

To succeed in the role, you:

  • hold an HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • are authorised or eligible to be authorised to perform high‑voltage switching
  • bring experience in transmission, generation, or renewable energy operations
  • have proficiency with control systems and software used in HV operations
  • take a proactive, systematic, and solutions‑focused approach
  • communicate clearly and confidently in English.
