Wind Turbine Technician

Join us in this role where you’ll become a Wind Turbine Technician in our UK Generation business, where you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing our wind turbines, positively contributing to our safety culture, and working with our engineering specialists to enhance our wind farm performance. You’ll be working from our state-of-the-art facilities at Barrow-in-Furness, with over 400 employees based across this site, who all contribute to ensure our windfarms are operating at their optimum.

You’ll be part of UK West team where you, together with your colleagues, will be working from our West Coast Hub in Barrow in Furness. Our team operates from a state-of-the-art operations and maintenance centre, which is home to more than 400 colleagues, who all contribute to ensuring that our windfarms are operating at their optimum.  

As a team, we strive for exceptional performance, with a high focus on safety, production, and cost efficiencies.  

You’ll play an important role in:

• driving a positive safety culture through your actions
• performing troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical components
• servicing and maintaining offshore wind turbines and balance of plant equipment

• utilising software systems to accurately record all elements of your daily work, incl. hours worked, spare parts used, and technical work order reports 

• preparing and packing spare parts, tools, and other equipment for all elements of maintenance or troubleshooting work 

• being proactive in maintaining and upskilling your competence level and the safety certification required for the job. 

To succeed in the role, you:

• have a full apprenticeship in a relevant discipline, such as electrical or mechanical engineering. Preferably, with further qualifications, such as BTEC or HNC
• meet the physical, medical, and psychological requirements for working offshore, working a 7 on 7 off shift pattern, 11.5hrs a day with unsociable hours 
• have an aptitude for working at heights and in restricted or confined spaces.
• are a team player with a calm and resilient approach to problem-solving.

• are self-motivated and enjoy working both independently and as a member of a team with a calm and controlled approach to problem-solving 

• are well-experienced in troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical components and adept in using your own initiative to complete tasks 

• must live within a 45-minute radius of site and are able to commute daily.

Position salary range:

£39,080.70- £45,879.60 + pension + benefits
