Senior Lead Quantitative Research Analyst

Join us in this role where you’ll develop and maintain models and methodologies leveraged by all the commercial and revenue groups across the region.

You’ll be part of Market Analytics where you, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for creating and owning quantitative models and the supporting infrastructure to drive both short and long-term decision making. We’re looking for someone to help take our quantitative modeling and analysis to the next level, as we aim to increase the size of our portfolio. We’re a collaborative and fast-moving organization, and this role will likely evolve over time as we grow. As a team, we create systems, models, and analysis to drive commercial decision making and processes.

 

You’ll play an important role in:

  • leading the development of novel models to enhance decision-making and competitiveness for US Trading and the Americas Commercial organization
  • developing and owning libraries, tools, and data to support model development and analytics
  • providing internal thought leadership and expertise in data science and energy industry trends
  • supporting the creation and maintenance of product roadmaps and backlogs for agile development
  • partnering with other teams to provide internal market research reports, identify new business opportunities, and develop trading strategies.
  • managing IT personnel to support and advance necessary IT infrastructure and policies for analytics.

 

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have preferred 3+ years of experience in quantitative modeling in US power markets and experience in a trading environment or equivalent
  • possess a bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, applied math, physics, or a related field (Masters or Doctorate preferred).
  • are analytical with the ability to provide precise and solid insights, identify causes and conditions, structure action plans, and propose and explain to internal stakeholders
  • are resourceful, with the ability to use a variety of tools, data sources, and systems, and have an inherent curiosity to procure and test new resources
  • have programming expertise in Python, Excel, R, or other programming languages, and experience with dashboard development (Dash preferred)
  • possess strong commercial capabilities, attention to detail, excellent interpersonal and strong communication skills, and an understanding of renewable generation technology, especially solar and battery storage.
