Power Trader

Join us in this role where you’ll work closely with the Lead Trader to make daily market decisions, primarily in the Day Ahead market, and contribute to developing trading strategies that maximize portfolio value.

You’ll be part of our Trading team where you, together with your colleagues, will manage market exposure for a diverse portfolio of wind, solar, and battery storage assets. You will collaborate across functions to ensure efficient and sustainable operations. You’ll play an important role in: 

  • assessing near-term market risks and executing trades to optimize output value 

  • reconciling trading positions and virtual awards 

  • supporting development and execution of trading strategies using virtuals, congestion, and futures products 

  • monitoring weather models to evaluate and mitigate weather risk 

  • collaborating with Market Analytics to create ongoing market and trading evaluation reports 

  • assisting in new market entry and capabilities, such as capacity markets 

 

To succeed in the role, you: 

  • have experience in real-time or virtual trading, or equivalent experience 

  • possess strong knowledge of US power markets, including ERCOT 

  • demonstrate analytical skills and proficiency with Python, R, VBA, or SQL a plus 

  • communicate effectively and build strong relationships across teams 

  • are adaptable and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment 

  • bring curiosity and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Power Trader: (130,000-160,000) Discretionary Bonus: 12.5 target of base compensation; may be changed or suspended based on the discretion of the compan. Keep in mind this range is dependent on candidate location.
