Deputy Head of Government Stakeholder Relations - New York

Imagine a future where you maintain positive relationships with Long Island communities and stakeholders to support the delivery and operation of largescale offshore wind projects in New York.

Join us in this role where you’ll support Ørsted’s New York government affairs and stakeholder relations efforts by representing the company at meetings and events, administering community grants and funds, coordinating opportunities for staff to engage with local stakeholders, and managing consultants in the market.

Welcome to External Affairs
You’ll be part of the external affairs team, which works closely across markets and functions, spanning communications, government affairs, stakeholder relations, public policy, and branding and marketing to enable the construction and operation of Ørsted’s U.S. offshore wind projects. As a team, we collaborate openly, support each other, and act with integrity and care, balancing diverse stakeholder interests and ensuring our social license to operate.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • updating and managing positive working relationships with key stakeholders on Long Island, including environmental leaders, community groups, trade groups, chambers of commerce, tribal nations, and state and local elected officials.
  • engaging with New York state, county and local government officials to help secure necessary approvals and otherwise support wind farm construction and operations.
  • representing Ørsted on local organizations, in regular communications with state and local partners, and by attending and presenting at conferences and events.
  • administering sponsorships, donations, grants and funds for Ørsted’s New York offshore wind projects.
  • coordinating opportunities for Ørsted New York staff to engage with stakeholders and communities, including by hosting visits to project sites and enabling employee participation at local events.
  • collaborating with public affairs and marketing colleagues to support external communications regarding Ørsted and its New York projects.
  • managing applicable contractors responsible for local external affairs support

To succeed in the role, you have:

  • experience working with government officials, organizations and community members across Long Island.
  • the ability to work independently and with a wide range of stakeholder interests.
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to communicate clearly and persuasively with diverse audiences.
  • integrity and sound judgment, balancing stakeholder interests and business objectives.
  • a professional track record of adding value as a team player through collaborative work.
  • the ability to work on a weekly basis in-person on Long Island.
  • preferably, familiarity with New York State’s offshore wind policy and regulatory environment, Suffolk County governments, and general offshore wind industry issues.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something valuable to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
