Early Phase Project Manager, Energy Infrastructure for Portfolio Optimisation & Projects

Imagine a future where you optimise and develop our sustainable combined heat and powerplants towards integrated green energy hubs

Join us in this role where you will lead projects from an idea through to concept maturation. You’ll develop technical solutions, contribute to early business cases, and manage key stakeholders - playing an important role in accelerating the green development of the future market for power, heat, and negative CO2 emissions.

Welcome to Bioenergy

You’ll join Portfolio Optimisation & Projects within Ørsted’s Bioenergy business unit. Together with your colleagues, you’ll be responsible for optimising Denmark’s combined heat and power plants through initiatives such as electrified district heating, energy storage and balancing solutions, and CO₂ infrastructure. Although you will be responsible for leading projects, this is not a management position.

You’ll work in a high trust, high impact environment with experienced specialists, where early phase technical decisions matter and your contributions help to guide long-term strategic investments. As a team, we offer a dynamic environment with highly skilled colleagues passionate about realising the green energy transition.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • leading and maturing early‑phase infrastructure projects with significant technical scope and complexity
  • driving projects from an idea to a clearly defined, decision ready scope for handover to an EPC PM for tendering and execution
  • developing technical concepts, early CAPEX/OPEX estimates and feasibility assessments.
  • managing early project governance, including scope, timelines, and engagement of engineering consultants
  • collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects support and align with a robust commercial business case.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have solid experience in early phase project management of physical infrastructure asset projects.
  • possess proven experience with technical concept development, preferably within energy, infrastructure, or process engineering environments, supported by a relevant engineering degree
  • can structure and drive multidisciplinary projects across process, mechanical, electrical, and civil. You can operate independently while knowing when to involve specialists and build project teams
  • are comfortable working with uncertainty and making sound technical and project‑level assessments based on limited data.
  • understand the commercial context of infrastructure projects and can contribute to clear, well‑founded business cases and decision material
  • are fluent in written and spoken Danish and/or English and can communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
