Financial Controller (Associate Lead/Lead)

Imagine a future where you use your deep financial expertise to strengthen governance and deliver trusted financial reporting in a complex, listed energy business driving the green transition.

Join us in this role where you’ll take a leading responsibility for financial controlling and reporting of highly complex legal entities, acting as a subject matter expert within Danish GAAP and IFRS, and supporting confident, well governed decision making across the business.

Welcome to Financial Controlling
You’ll be part of the Financial Controlling team where you, together with your colleagues, will ensure compliant, timely, and high-quality financial controlling and statutory reporting for Ørsted’s legal entities. The team is primarily based in Denmark, with close collaboration across our hub in Warsaw, and works closely with stakeholders across Finance and with external auditors.  As a team, we support each other in solving complex accounting matters, share knowledge openly, and value curiosity, integrity, and collaboration in everything we do.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • ensuring high quality financial controlling and statutory reporting for complex legal entities.
  • acting as a subject matter expert within Danish GAAP and IFRS, supporting complex accounting topics.
  • planning audits and maintaining a close, constructive dialogue with external auditors.
  • driving continuous improvement of financial processes, controls, and documentation.
  • advising and partnering with stakeholders across the organisation on financial and accounting matters.
  • contributing to knowledge sharing and capability building within the Financial Controlling team.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have strong, hands-on knowledge of Danish GAAP and IFRS from working in complex organisations.
  • bring experience from financial controlling, accounting, audit, or a combination thereof, in a large or complex business environment, or equivalent experience.
  • are confident engaging with auditors and stakeholders and can explain complex topics clearly.
  • take a proactive, curious approach and feel comfortable asking questions and challenging constructively.
  • contribute positively to team dynamics and enjoy supporting others as a trusted sparring partner.
  • hold a relevant higher education within finance or accounting, or equivalent experience.

We’re hiring for this role at two levels. The final level will be determined based on your experience, complexity exposure, and readiness to take ownership of the most complex accounting topics.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
