Welcome to the Strategy, Innovation and In-house consulting
You’ll be part of the Innovation team where, as Head of Innovation Future Opportunities, you will focus on transformative innovation outside Ørsted’s core business. You’ll lead a small team of 3-5 talented colleagues and work directly with the Head of Innovation to bring transformative innovation projects into our pipeline and lead future thinking and Ørsted’s venture efforts.

We’re looking for someone who has been “in the trenches” and knows first-hand how innovation actually happens.

 

Ideally, someone who has:

· Run or been part of running an accelerator or innovation program inside a large organization,

· Taken a product or business idea from concept to commercial scale

· Or worked in venture capital with a hands-on focus on scaling ventures

 

You’ll play an important role in:

  • leading innovation project managers through the project lifecycle from problem discovery through validation to scaling, ensuring evidence‑based decisions
  • shaping a prioritized portfolio of future innovation projects (markets, products, platforms, and business models) that futureproofs Ørsted
  • mapping future trends in the energy sector and updating our innovation strategy accordingly
  • overseeing Ørsted’s venture capabilities—including scouting, venture partnerships, venture building, and selective investments
  • building strong external networks (startups, scaleups, funds, universities, industry partners) to access partners and talent
  • ensuring the continued personal development of your team of innovators, leading in accordance with Ørsted’s values and psychological safety at the center.

 

To succeed in the role, you:

  • are passionate about innovation and have significant leadership experience with radical innovation in a corporate, leading teams with a track-record of bringing big impact projects and business to market
  • have a strong innovation tool kit, not only for personal use, but also to upskill others, leading with energy, clarity, and impact
  • are an empathetic leader who can motivate and energize a team, and you are a strong, influential communicator who can create impactful engagement with senior stakeholders to shape and embed innovation into a large business organization
  • understand the inner workings of venture building and corporate venturing
  • communicate clearly, translating complex technical or commercial topics into simple narratives and executiveready materials
  • have strong commercial instincts and know how to assess and validate ideas in terms of market potential, scalability, and business model
  • hold a relevant master’s degree (business, engineering, economics, or similar) or bring equivalent experience.
