Lead Cable Specialist

Join us in this role where you’ll work at the interface of cable technology and windfarm project development.  With a focus on early-stage projects, you will play a key role in supporting our incredible team of Project Engineers while fostering, maturing and enhancing the collaboration with our suppliers.  By analysing lessons learnt from our large pipeline of projects in construction whilst staying connected to the latest industry trends, you will deliver visible value increases to our projects.

Welcome to Export Cable System
You’ll be part of The Export Cable System team where you, together with your colleagues, will be focusing on optimising the contribution of the export cable system to the overall windfarm business case, delivering innovative solutions while keeping a close eye on the management of risk. You will report to the Head of the Export Cable System team and will support the Project Engineers assigned to the development projects, sparring, providing technical assurance, guidance and optimising the processes the team uses during the development phase.

As a team, we foster a culture of open and honest communication. We aspire to consistently develop and improve through feedback and collaborative knowledge sharing, with an innovative and commercial mindset. We create a safe culture where different points of view are welcomed and where we help each other.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • supporting the Project Engineers assigned to develop the export cable system in the early phases of our windfarm project, from Gate 0 to Gate 3
  • increasing the attractiveness of the project business case, identifying and maturing new technologies and process innovations through multidisciplinary work with interfacing scopes
  • fostering collaboration with our suppliers together with our procurement functions
  • identifying and maturing new technology and process innovations
  • ensuring Technical Assurance of our deliverables and identifying and mitigating portfolio and project risks related to cable systems

To succeed in the role, you:

  • hold an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) and bring a solid experience in the HV cable industry, with a deep understanding of relevant standards such as IEC, Cigré and IEEE
  • possess significant hands-on experience with offshore EPC projects, ideally in Offshore Wind Farms, such as direct involvement in factory, substation construction yard, and offshore works
  • demonstrate a practical approach to technical analyses, with the ability to perform, delegate or review work as appropriate, and clearly communicate how the cable system scope influences the project business case and value creation
  • show strong leadership by setting direction, engaging colleagues at all levels (e.g., leading task forces or smaller projects), and resolving challenges pragmatically and cost-effectively, including effective de-escalation when needed
  • exhibit excellent stakeholder management, presentation and communication skills, capable of engaging both technical and non-technical audiences, and embrace cultural and social diversity within the team and broader organisation.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.

The position requires travel approximately 5-6 times per year, primarily for visits to suppliers such as audits and development meetings, with destinations including Europe, APAC, and the US.
