Lead Financial Controller

Imagine a future where you ensure trusted financial reporting in a complex, data‑driven trading environment that supports the green energy transition.

Join us in this role where you’ll lead financial controlling for revenue and trading entities, owning close, reporting, and governance activities while ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance with IFRS. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across Finance, Trading & Revenue, Tax, and Legal, translating complex data into reliable insights that support sound decision‑making.

Welcome to Financial Controlling

You’ll be part of Financial Controlling where you, together with your colleagues, will ensure high‑quality financial reporting, robust governance, and continuous improvement across our Nordic revenue and trading entities. You’ll work in a highly collaborative, data‑intensive environment with exposure to complex contracts, systems, and regulatory requirements.

As a team, we collaborate closely, support each other, and take pride in delivering accurate results through strong ownership, openness, and shared responsibility.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • leading financial controlling and statutory reporting for a portfolio of complex legal entities, ensuring high quality, compliance, and timely delivery.
  • acting as a recognised subject matter expert within Danish GAAP and IFRS, providing guidance on complex accounting matters and driving robust accounting conclusions.
  • owning the planning and execution of statutory audits, building strong relationships with external auditors and resolving complex audit matters independently.
  • leading cross-functional projects and driving continuous improvements to financial processes, controls, governance, and documentation.
  • partnering with senior stakeholders across Finance and the business, translating complex financial matters into clear recommendations and supporting decision-making.
  • identifying risks, challenging existing practices constructively, and driving initiatives that strengthen financial control and reporting quality.
  • mentoring and developing colleagues by sharing knowledge, coaching team members, and contributing to capability building across the Financial Controlling team.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • hold a Master's degree in Accounting, Auditing, Finance, or a related field, and/or are a State Authorised Public Accountant.
  • have deep expertise in Danish GAAP and IFRS, with the ability to interpret complex requirements and apply them in practice within a large and complex organisation.
  • bring significant experience from financial controlling and audit, with responsibility for complex legal entities and stakeholder environments.
  • have a strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, risk management, and statutory compliance.
  • are comfortable leading discussions with auditors, senior management, and business stakeholders, influencing outcomes through clear and credible communication.
  • demonstrate strong business acumen and can translate financial information into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • thrive in complex environments, take ownership of challenging topics, and proactively drive solutions and improvements.
  • enjoy leading initiatives and supporting others through coaching, sparring, and knowledge sharing.
  • bring the professional credibility and technical expertise needed to act as a trusted advisor on complex accounting and reporting matters.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.

Please note that you’re expected to do some travelling in relation to your work, as you’ll visit other Ørsted locations and collaborate with stakeholders across Nordic entities.
