Quantitative Developer

Join us in this role where you’ll advance our capability to model the supply and demand dynamics of the north-west European power markets and support our traders to effectively risk manage Ørsted’s complex renewables portfolio. Your area of responsibility will be to forecast the power prices based on fundamental analysis and assess risk in different market and weather scenarios.

Welcome to Exposure & Trading Analytics
You’ll be part of the Price Forecasting & Analysis team where you, together with your colleagues, will provide the tools and models required to effectively manage Ørsted’s merchant risk on the trading floor. Your principal stakeholders will be analysts and traders, but you’ll also engage with analysts across the organisation. You’ll supplement our team of five quantitative analysts and take our models to the next level by bringing in strong software competences. As a team, we value an open dialogue and helping each other out. We take pride in our work and strive to reach high standards.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • developing the fundamental power market models in our European footprint markets
  • improving the robustness, speed, and scalability of our model and data pipelines with best software practices
  • enhancing the performance of the model with numerical methods and market understanding
  • addressing ongoing changes in power market fundamentals
  • responding to the needs across our trading function and enabling the rest of the team with data and platforms.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have programming proficiency in Python and general software development skills such as design patterns, coding good practices, object-oriented design, and clean code
  • have experience with deploying, scaling, and managing applications in the cloud
  • have practical knowledge of Git, DevOps practices, and reliability practices
  • have data pipeline development, data ingestion and data transformation experience
  • are solution-orientated and find motivation working in a data-driven trading environment.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
