Senior External Affairs Advisor
Join us in this role where you’ll be instrumental in designing, implementing and maintaining our global external engagement relationships and strategies, including not least with global regulatory bodies, industry associations, public affairs entities and other key partners. You’ll collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams across group and markets, leveraging your expertise in government relations, policy advocacy, and stakeholder management to track trends and issues and influence the political, legislative, and regulatory landscape to capture value creation business opportunities.
Welcome to Global Regulatory and Public Affairs
You’ll be part of Global Engagement and Thought Leadership team where you, together with your colleagues, will lead on positioning Ørsted as a catalyst for change and thought leader in the renewables industry. As part of the global department of about 40 professionals, we work closely with commercial functions and teams in the Global Stakeholder Relations area. We help shape the global conversation on the future of energy and sustainability by engaging with international organizations and producing thought leadership on various topics in the renewables sector.

You’ll play an important role in:
- developing and implementing strategies for external engagement with global stakeholders including UN bodies, national authorities, policymakers and partner organisations
- establishing and maintaining contacts with relevant political stakeholders in high-level government departments, parliament and ministries, as well as industry peers and collaborators
- driving the industry agenda by participating in industry association meetings, engaging with industry stakeholders to ensure our interests are represented in the market and global campaigns
- identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for collaboration and mutual benefit, working closely with internal departments and external stakeholders, to drive business objectives forward
- producing high-quality thought leadership reports and presentations that effectively communicate complex concepts and findings to diverse stakeholders, both internal and external
To succeed in the role, you:
- demonstrate proven experiences working in regulatory and public affairs roles with nuanced and thoughtful understanding of renewable energy sector and energy transition dynamics and politics across markets
- possess strong analytical and conceptual skills with expertise in economic or regulatory analysis, able to triangulate alternative perspectives, draw meaningful conclusions, and clearly communicate results to diverse stakeholders
- demonstrate proven experience of engaging with and influencing critical external stakeholders, such as governments, politicians, NGOs, shareholders, investors, regulators, industry peers/competitors, public advocacy groups and communities
- possess strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex economic concepts in a clear and concise manner (Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in written and spoken English is essential)
- are a team player in collaborating closely with cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams to proactively pursue data collection, analysis and provide recommendations internally and externally
- are proactive to initiate new opportunities from a broadly defined set of objectives, meet/exceed performance targets and motivate others to do likewise
