Imagine a future where you shape the models that drive power and gas market insights and enable better trading decisions in a fast-moving environment.

Join us in this role where you’ll develop and improve core market models that support short- and mid-term analysis. You’ll combine strong Python development with an interest in energy markets to deliver scalable, reliable models used daily by trading and commercial teams.

Welcome to Forecasting & Market Analysis
You’ll be part of Forecasting & Market Analysis where you together with your colleagues will develop models and forecasts supporting trading and portfolio decisions across power and gas. You’ll work closely with analysts, traders, and platform teams to ensure high-quality data-driven insights. As a team, we collaborate across disciplines, share knowledge, and continuously improve how we model and understand energy markets.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • Developing our new gas supply and demand to enable our gas trading and portfolio management activities

  • developing and improving gas and power market models for supply-demand and price formation.

  • maintaining and operating power production forecast models and related tooling.

  • integrating key drivers such as weather, fuel prices, outages, and interconnector flows into models.

  • ensuring model outputs reflect market behaviour across short- and mid-term horizons.

  • improving model governance, monitoring performance, and keeping assumptions and data up to date.

  • collaborating with traders, analysts, and developers to deliver actionable insights and recommendations.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a background in quantitative development, engineering, economics, or similar, or equivalent experience.

  • write scalable, well-tested Python code and apply modern development practices.

  • are familiar with version control, CI/CD, and collaborative software development.

  • work confidently with data, including time series analysis, SQL, and data visualisation tools.

  • are motivated to build expertise in energy markets and translate it into models.

  • communicate clearly and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
