Senior Portfolio Manager

If you’re excited by enabling project teams to convert ideas into portfolio‑level value and by keeping complex portfolios running smoothly, this role lets you make an impact at scale. You’ll bring commercial thinking, strong stakeholder engagement, and hands‑on operational ownership to guide, prioritise and time‑box decisions so innovation choices are grounded, timely and impactful.

As a Senior Portfolio Manager in Innovation Operations & Enablement, you’ll be responsible for owning and operating Ørsted’s Innovation Portfolio. This includes maintaining portfolio data, running governance forums, and translating project‑level information into clear, decision‑ready insights. You’ll run and continuously improve our governance cadence, from weekly project reviews to Quarterly Portfolio Reviews with senior stakeholders while ensuring the data, tooling, and processes behind these decisions are robust and trusted.

You’ll partner closely with the Head of Operations & Enablement and a small, senior “SWAT team” to support portfolio flow, strengthen business case quality, and connect analysis to concrete decisions across the business. You’ll also contribute to the ongoing development of our portfolio platform, which we are currently building in‑house.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • own the innovation portfolio end‑to‑end: maintain portfolio data quality, gather and validate project‑level inputs (e.g. status, value, risks, readiness), refine tooling and review cadence
  • run portfolio governance: plan and lead weekly portfolio reviews across business units and prepare executive‑ready materials for Quarterly Portfolio Reviews to support start/scale/stop decisions
  • enable decision‑making: challenge assumptions, value logic, and readiness, connecting project‑level detail to portfolio‑level strategy and resource prioritisation
  • embed portfolio discipline: operate and improve stage‑gate practices, coach teams on value articulation and business cases, and raise consistency and comparability across initiatives
  • work cross‑functionally: collaborate closely with engineers, data and AI colleagues, and commercial leaders to align inputs, resolve gaps, and manage dependencies
  • communicate with clarity: produce concise, decision‑focused narratives and presentations, support senior forums, and ensure discussions lead to clear outcomes.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have strong portfolio management experience (innovation, product, venture/build, or strategic project portfolios) and genuinely enjoy the operational side of the role, including maintaining, validating, and working with data
  • bring strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and seniority levels, influencing with authority and building trust across different parts of the organisation
  • are fluent in value logic and business cases and comfortable operating a stage‑gate or similar governance model
  • communicate complex topics simply, build executive‑ready materials, and consistently connect insights to decisions
  • work hands‑on with SharePoint, Excel, and Power BI (or equivalents), and bring curiosity around developing and improving digital tools and platforms
  • bring interest in AIenabled ways of working; experience with vibe coding or similar development would be an asset
  • bring relevant perspectives from wind, energy, technology, or adjacent industries, which would be beneficial, combined with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment, are curious by nature, work well as a team player, constructively challenge the status quo.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
