Senior Trading Analyst

Join us in this role where you’ll support the revenue desk and other key stakeholders by providing deep insights, predictions, and prescriptions on power market prices using fundamental models. You will work closely with traders, analysts, model developers, meteorologists, and other specialists. You will combine your market understanding and your analytics skills to deliver high-impact analytics and recommendations.

You’ll be part of the Price Forecasting & Analysis team, where you, together with your colleagues, will support European Trading and key stakeholders across Trading & Revenue. Our team consists of dedicated trading analysts and model developers with diverse backgrounds in power market analysis, business, engineering, and mathematical optimization.

As a team, we value flexibility, experimentation, and knowledge sharing, working in virtual teams with experienced traders, analysts, model developers, and other specialists.

 

You’ll play an important role in:

  • growing our trading PnL
  • delivering quantitative power price analysis, insights, and actionable recommendations
  • performing fundamental analysis of power market prices using the FUMO model
  • keeping our modeling assumptions and input data up to date
  • evaluating our model performance
  • improving our products including trading recommendations, forecasts, communication, data, models, tools and reports.

 

To succeed in the role, you:

  • demonstrate a keen interest in energy and especially power markets
  • have a background in data science, economics, engineering, or similar field; expertise in power markets, supply and demand modeling, and price forecasting
  • demonstrate an ability to translate data and insights from our core supply and demand model into actionable market trading strategies
  • can use Python, Notebooks, SQL and Excel to produce ad hoc analysis using our fundamental model and other data
  • demonstrate strong commercial accumen
  • demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
