Senior Wind Turbine Load Engineer

Join us in this role where you’ll be involved with turbine load modelling across a variety of tasks supporting asset projects in both development and operation.

Welcome to Loads
You’ll be part of Loads where you, together with your colleagues, will cover a wide range of tasks, such as continuous improvement of Ørsted’s in-house aeroelastic simulation software, turbine model implementation, analysis of measurement data from our existing fleet, support to operations, loads for design of new assets, R&D work and tool development supporting all these activities and projects.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • supporting various stakeholders with task related to aeroelasticty and structural dynamics
  • setting up and validating wind turbine models in our in-house aeroelastic code DEFlex to support new and existing assets
  • engaging in technical due diligence with wind turbine providers
  • engaging with certifying bodies when tasks require
  • potentially taking on other tasks across the department

To succeed in the role, you:

  • are action-oriented and have a pragmatic approach to problem solving
  • have extensive proven experience in building aeroelastic models and calculating loads on wind turbines, preferably from a wind turbine manufacturer
  • have an understanding of atmospheric boundary layer and in-flow
  • have a deep understanding of rotor aerodynamics, control and protection systems in relation to loads and stability
  • have strong programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python
  • have a degree in engineering, physics, or similar.

You thrive in an international environment, working with colleagues of various nationalities and different professional and cultural backgrounds. Thus, it’s essential that you have excellent communication skills and speak and write English fluently.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
