Special Projects Manager or Principal

Join us in this role where you’ll work directly with Senior Leaders across our >10GW Generation business on priority strategic and special projects within the portfolio. In Special Projects, you’ll be part of a high-impact team, supporting the business to capture and protect value from commercial/ operational opportunities and challenges. This position offers a high degree of personal development across problem-solving, collaboration, project and stakeholder management.

Welcome to Special Projects
You’ll be part of the Special Projects team where you, together with your colleagues, will work across different markets and countries to find answers to challenging questions and drive the implementation of practical strategies for improvement. You will sit within the Generation Commercial department and work on engagements right across the Generation business, including within our central functions and operational hubs in UK West, UK East, and Continental Europe. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects with a wide range of stakeholders.

As a team, we value collaboration, active listening, strategic thinking and innovative problem-solving, and we place a strong focus on finding solutions that can be successfully implemented.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • leading strategic and special projects for the Head of Generation and the Generation Senior Leadership Team, leveraging problem solving, the development of top-down storylines and insights which will lay the foundation for decisions
  • gathering, researching, and analysing quantitative and qualitative data from across the organisation and external sources, translating this into clear insights and initiatives
  • identifying challenges and opportunities for the organisation to scope and drive special projects to mitigate threats or capture untapped value
  • managing key stakeholders across the organisation to best drive projects forward with the necessary input and ensure alignment where needed
  • driving the implementation of priority initiatives within Generation, working closely with commercial and operational teams to deliver sustainable changes to ways of working
  • working across different markets and countries and at different organisational levels.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have experience in management/ strategy consulting or business development at a major company; experience in the energy industry and/or commercial or technical expertise within an owner/ operator environment would be an advantage
  • have a high willingness to learn, a can-do mindset for persevering with challenging tasks, and a strong personal drive to get to insight and output
  • have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an ability to distil and communicate key insights from complex and unstructured information sets
  • have a curious and collaborative mindset and strong ability to work with people across a range of different disciplines
  • demonstrate an ability and desire to work both independently and as part of a team.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
