Student Assistant
Join us in this role where you’ll support our Trading Risk team in handling financial market risk from our energy trading floor, contribute to daily reporting of trading performance and risk metrics, and help develop digital tools and analyses that give insight to risk managers, traders, and senior stakeholders. You’ll gain hands‑on experience with energy markets, derivatives, and market risk while working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
Welcome to Trading Risk
You’ll be part of Trading Risk where you, together with your colleagues, will work on diverse, complex tasks that build a strong understanding of our business, energy markets, derivatives, trading activity, and overall risk profile. Our team manages risks from the trading floor by setting limits, monitoring compliance and performance, and partnering closely with traders and stakeholders. We’re a curious, commercially minded group that works professionally while keeping an informal, friendly atmosphere.
As a team, we succeed as one, care for each other and our partners, and combine strong analytical skills with integrity, passion, and a focus on results.
You’ll play an important role in:
- supporting the daily reporting of energy trading performance and risk metrics, such as Value‑at‑Risk, stress tests, and position limits, to the business and senior management
- preparing ad‑hoc analyses and presentations for risk managers, traders, and stakeholders concerning trading activities, market risks, derivatives, and VaR
- helping to develop, maintain, and optimise digital tools, dashboards, and reports used by the Trading Risk team, e.g. in SQL, Excel, Python, Power BI, and PowerPoint
- validating, reconciling, and quality‑assuring data and risk‑ and performance measures in our daily reports
- documenting processes and methods, updating guidelines, and supporting continuous improvement of ways of working in Trading Risk
- contributing to small projects and improvement initiatives that enhance our risk insights and support data‑driven decision‑making.
To succeed in the role, you:
- are enrolled in a relevant university programme such as finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field or possess equivalent practical experience, with approximately two years remaining in your studies
- have a strong analytical mindset and enjoy working with numbers and large data volumes
- can communicate complex topics in a clear and simple way in English, both spoken and written
- are structured, take responsibility, and can manage your own tasks, priorities, and deadlines
- are curious about financial markets, risk management, and energy trading, and are eager to learn in a high‑pace environment
- have solid IT skills and are comfortable learning new tools; experience with SQL, Excel, Python, Power BI, and PowerPoint is an advantage.
Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
