Lead Specialist SCADA/OT Engineer

Join us in this role where you’ll work as Lead Specialist SCADA/OT systems Engineer at our UK East Coast Hub which forms part of the Region Europe Generation Portfolio. Working in the UK East, you’ll develop and optimise the SCADA/OT systems engineering framework standards across UK East hub to drive continuous improvement & increase reliability of generation assets. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering UK East you will have responsibility in developing our engineering framework and standard processes.

You’ll be part of UK East Hub where you, together with your colleagues, will represent and be part of the Engineering Team for the UK East Asset Portfolio and will work closely and collaborate with engineering managers and their teams as well as engaging with key stakeholders in site operations, Global Support & Functional Teams.

 

You’ll play an important role in:

  • developing and managing a set of policies and plans to maximise reliability throughout asset lifecycles on multiple platform technologies
  • being the point of contact for complex technical issues problem solving, completing mitigating actions and identifying root causes to prevent re-occurrence
  • safety Leadership - Developing a strong, positive HSE culture and ensuring focus on maintaining and improving standards related to how HSE is managed across the portfolio
  • supporting engineering elements of business transformation towards enhanced operational efficiency, increasing reliability and revenue and best in class safety and compliance management
  • effectively manage high risk items and events in hub to evaluate and extract maximum value and opportunities in the hub through lifecycle management.

 

 

To succeed in the role, you:

  • hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Control Systems, Automation or similar)
  • will ensure the systems, policies and processes in hub maintain best practise in line with ISO certifications and provide the engineering standards for our engineering teams to utilise
  • will ensure technical changes are managed to a high standard protecting the integrity and safety of the assets utilising and improving where require existing processes
  • have strong decision-making capabilities acting as technical authority in the hub
  • have extensive knowledge in SCADA protocols: IEC 61850, IEC60870-5-101/103/104, Modbus & TCP/IP, OPC, SNMP, SNTP, Profinet, DLMS -Devices: Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), Energy Meters, Protection relays, Bay  controllers, SCADA Gateways, Protocol Converters, GPS time servers -Industrial Networks, Ethernet switches, firewalls, routers, PABX, IP Phones, redundancy RSTP, PRP, Networks troubleshooting -Windows Server, server administration, VMware Esxi, back up strategies, hardening, server hardware maintenance
