(Senior) Geotechnical Engineer

Join us in this role where you’ll collaborate with your Seabed Interface Design engineering colleagues to support projects involving the design and installation of high-voltage cables. This includes contributing to site assessments, thermal design, route design, cable burial risk assessments and trenching installation assessments for both inter-array and export cable routes worldwide

 

Welcome to Geoscience & Geotechnics
You’ll be part of Seabed Interface Design where you, together with your colleagues, will deliver Cable based engineering solutions to projects located across the globe. You will join a team of 25 talented engineers who’s field of expertise is geotechnical engineering, scour protection design, seabed mobility assessments and developing engineering solutions for the design and installation of onshore and offshore cable routes.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • analysing the complex interface between ground risk, installation constraints, burial tool performance, metocean conditions and marine users to engineer optimum solutions to minimize cost and maximise
  • supporting the scoping of site investigation as well as development of ground models to understand ground risks related to cable design and installation
  • taking responsibility for leading projects, communicating with internal engineering teams, Consultancies, Installation Managers and offshore installation contractors
  • with guidance, performing geotechnical cable studies such as installation trenching assessments, cable routing, cable burial risk assessments and thermal design assessments for subsea cables
  • managing large databases of geotechnical, geophysical and installation data, including developing bespoke analytical and plotting tools to interpret the data.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • hold an educational background in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • preferably have a good understanding of programming, databases and GIS software
  • have an analytical approach of carrying out your work including engineering assessments to required codes and standards
  • have experience delivering geoscience-based projects, preferably for offshore projects though not essential
  • thrive in an English-speaking international environment working in a multi-disciplinary engineering team with many internal and external stakeholders
  • are a sociable person and a team player.
