Business Case & Commercial Projects Lead

Join us in this role where you’ll be responsible for managing business cases and major commercial projects across our UK West offshore wind farms. You will collaborate with a range of internal colleagues including finance, legal, front-line operations and senior management, as well as with our co-owners and project partners.

Welcome to Generation Europe
You’ll be part of the Commercial Management department in the UK West Hub where you, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for managing commercial performance across our West Coast assets, informing key strategic decisions and maximising the value of our wind farms. As Business Case & Commercial Projects Lead, you’ll control and oversee the long-term business cases governing our wind parks, managing their inputs and sensitivities, and ensuring effective commercial decision making across our portfolio.

As a team, we collaborate, encourage, embrace learning opportunities, share talent, and support development to achieve our shared goals.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • Owning short, medium and long term project business cases, regularly reviewing and testing the same to ensure accuracy and fitness for decision-making by internal and external senior management
  • Running decision-analysis, testing strategies and investment cases incorporating a wide range of benefits, costs and risks to support the continuous development of individual assets and the wider UKW portfolio
  • Communicating recommendations effectively with a range of stakeholders including internal and external partners, executives and colleagues across technical, commercial and finance teams – this includes via written materials and presenting at senior management meetings
  • Driving effective working dynamics and robust decision-making across our portfolio, with a strong focus on safety, commercial performance, risk quantification and successful long-term relationships
  • Leading other commercial projects as they arise, potentially including M&A, strategic partnerships, OEM negotiation, and other strategic opportunities
  • Liaising with colleagues in other regions to share learnings and drive best practices.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have a strong passion for renewable energy, in particular offshore wind
  • have a solid understanding of financial theory and valuation concepts
  • have strong business case management skills, including in developing, controlling and utilising business cases to improve commercial decision-making
  • have a good understanding of the financial and accounting impacts of business decisions and an ability to communicate those effectively to a range of stakeholders
  • have experience making investment case recommendations via both written and presented materials
  • have commercial insight and an understanding of the levers for improving the financial performance of assets
  • ideally have project management and negotiation experience.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
