Wind Technician

Join us in this role where you’ll be supporting operations and maintenance activities in our Northeast system.

 

Welcome to Operations
You’ll be part of NEP Operations where you, together with your colleagues, will provide service and maintenance for the 161 SGRE DD11-200 offshore wind turbines located East of Montauk, NY. You’ll work on a 12-hour daily shift for two weeks on and two weeks off. You’ll transfer with your team via Crew Transfer Vessel and later by Service Operations Vessel. During the CTV phase, you’ll transfer from Quonset, RI to the site and then later during the SOV phase, you’ll reside on the vessel and transfer using a walk to work system installed on the vessel.

As a team, we work collectively to ensure the safe operation of all 161 WTG's which make up the NEP Northeast Project. Our teams are experienced, motivated and makes safety their top priority.

 

You’ll play an important role in:

  • performing annual service on the wind turbines, transmission, and wind farm balance of plant assets
  • troubleshooting and repair of AC/DC electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic components, and systems within the wind farms
  • supporting the development of problem-solving techniques and innovations for improved wind farm operations
  • planning and executing the duties safely through rigorous process adherence, campaigns, and safety culture
  • carrying out preparatory work regarding spare parts, testing of tools and equipment, paperwork, and documentation as required.

 

To succeed in the role, you:

  • have at least three years of experience with servicing, repairing, or troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, or hydraulic equipment, preferably have previous wind turbine maintenance experience
  • have a proactive and systematic approach to your work tasks
  • can speak, write, and read English fluently, and enjoy working in an international team
  • have the ability and willingness to live offshore and work at heights, working 12 hours per day, 14 days on and 14 off shift period
  • can pass the physical and medical tests for GWO certification, incl. working at heights, sea survival, first aid and CPR, and HUET helicopter transfer in the future
  • can work in the US for any employer without requiring sponsorship, i.e., work visa and are a current or become a future resident of New York.
