Head of Health and Safety in Bioenergy

Join us in this role where you’ll be part of Ørsted Bioenergy senior leadership, in which you will be responsible of steering the ambitious strategic direction for Health & Safety (HS) and leading a significant step change in safety performance across our Danish bioenergy assets, including carbon capture.

Welcome to Bioenergy
You’ll be part of the Bioenergy Senior Leadership Team where you, together with your colleagues, will  have responsibility for driving a strategic step change with best-in-class performance and efficient governance for Health & Safety across Bioenergy. You will head and lead a team of approximately 15 HS professionals and drive HS performance, compliance, and continuous improvement across seven bio-converted power plants in Denmark, influencing around 600 Ørsted colleagues and 700 contractors. As a team, we focus on cooperation towards the common objective that everybody comes home safely – every day! And we know, that when it comes to contractor management, we succeed and fail together.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • fostering a proactive best-in-class health and safety culture within Ørsted’s framework and overall business strategy
  • leading and developing the HS organisation with effective governance structures, clear accountability and strong performance management
  • providing direction in tangible advice, guidance, and support on HS operational and technical matters, including operational processes, risk assessment, and improvement initiatives across all sites
  • driving proactive HS performance, that not only learn from incidents but define leading indicators, to precisely implement targeted initiatives improving learning, culture and performance
  • providing visible HS leadership across sites and in Ørsted HS/QHSE forums
  • developing strong stakeholder management and working relationships between Ørsted and our Contractors and Suppliers, between the local Operations sites and QHSE in the Ørsted Region.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • possess significant experience as a senior HS or QHSE People leader in energy, heavy industry, or similar high-risk environments
  • bring strong operational credibility and a proven track record in driving performance and cultural change
  • are performance-oriented and able to challenge senior leaders on HS performance
  • are a strong communicator in Danish and English (both verbal and in writing), able to build strong stakeholder relationships, exercise motivational leadership and create organizational followership
  • possess solid knowledge of Danish HS legislation and are curious to continously gain up-to-date knowledge within the area so HS can react and implement proatively and timely - to the safety of us all.

In this role you must expect some travel within Denmark to visit and be present at our different sites physically.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
