USV Technician

Join us in this role where you’ll be working in a small, dedicated team responsible for developing, maintaining and operating Uncrewed Surface Vessels globally.

 

You'll be stepping into a hands-on role where your technical expertise truly matters. Work side-by-side with talented engineers and operational specialists at Ørsted, as well as trusted external partners, to keep and operate our Uncrewed Surface Vessels running safely and reliably—no matter where in the world they are deployed.

Variety in your workday: Split your time between the office, the USV workshop, and exciting travel assignments.

· In the office: Take charge of planning, documenting, and monitoring live USV missions, ensuring every detail is covered and all project deliverables are completed in a timely manner.

· In the workshop: Dive into troubleshooting and maintaining marine engines, cutting-edge electrical systems, advanced data communications, and sensor integrations, everything needed to keep our USVs at peak performance.

· On the road: Join global campaigns and experience new locations, harbor preparatory work, offshore operations and learning from real-world challenges.

 

 

Welcome to Ørsted USV Team
You’ll be part of our USV team where you, together with your colleagues, will group at the forefront of offshore technology, working alongside measurement engineers, data scientists, and uncrewed vessel specialists. As part of our team, you’ll play a key role in operating USVs and delivering essential data for global offshore measurement campaigns in both metocean and geophysical areas.

 

You’ll receive hands-on training, basic maritime education and ongoing support from experienced colleagues, ensuring you’re always learning and growing in your role.

With campaigns running worldwide, you’ll gain valuable experience and have the chance to travel up to 30–40 days per year, always with the backing of a supportive team.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • not only maintaining and operating our USVs but also in contributing to measurement and survey campaigns which enable Ørsted in taking critical decisions to develop world class offshore wind farms.

 

 

To succeed in the role, you:

  • are interested in obtaining basic maritime education and certification as part of your role, allowing you to operate unmanned surface vessels (USVs) in offshore environments
  • have a desire to learn new technical skills within marine mechanics and electrical area, and are not afraid to tackle unknown problems in a structured and safe way
  • have a strong interest in taking responsibility for the preparation, deployment, and monitoring of USVs in offshore operations; your educational background could be in marine engineering, automation technology, data engineering, or a related field such as electrician or automation technician
  • are persevering and motivated by finding original solutions to challenges that aren't always well defined, and implementing these solutions in a structured manner
  • are self-driven and able to deliver results while working on several parallel workstreams.
