HV Engineering Manager

Join us in this role where you’ll apply your technical expertise to enhance the reliability of the CHW0102a and CHW2204 cluster wind farms. You’ll leverage your skills to optimize asset performance and coordinate potential solutions with the OEM. In this position, you’ll also provide technical support within the regional setup and collaborate closely with both internal and external stakeholders.

Welcome to Engineering and Systems in APAC Operation.
You’ll be part of HV transmission engineering team where you, together with your colleagues, will join a team dedicated to identifying and resolving technical challenges across our operational asset portfolio. In this role, you’ll deliver practical and effective solutions using available tools and methodologies, while collaborating closely with the OEM and various internal functions. Your work will help ensure robust processes and clear communication across multiple sites and regions.

As a team, we combine technical expertise with a strong commitment to shared success.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • provide engineering leadership for HV transmission assets in operation, ensuring that export cables, offshore/onshore substations, transformers, switchgear, and protection & control systems remain reliable, compliant, and optimised for long-term performance
  • lead engineering assessments and operational performance reviews, analysing system behaviour, degradation trends, grid interactions, protection events, and failure patterns to identify risks and improvement opportunities across the operating sites
  • oversee technical investigations for operational incidents, guiding root cause analysis, validating technical findings, and ensuring corrective actions are robust and aligned with operational risk and reliability objectives
  • develop and govern asset integrity strategies within O&M, including condition-based evaluations, lifetime assessments, and prioritisation of reinvestment or refurbishment plans based on engineering evidence and operational impact
  • review and validate proposed system changes, upgrades, or operational adjustments, ensuring that Management of Change (MoC) processes are followed, risks are assessed, and solutions align with central engineering standards and operational needs
  • drive HV reliability and system-performance improvement initiatives, evaluating technical feasibility, coordinating with OEMs and central engineering teams, and ensuring solutions enhance operational resilience and grid compliance.

To succeed in the role, you:

  • hold a relevant engineering degree (e.g., electrical engineering, power systems, high-voltage engineering) and bring several years of experience working with HV transmission assets such as substations, transformers, protection systems, or export cables
  • demonstrate strong analytical and engineering assessment skills, with the ability to evaluate system performance, interpret protection events, and translate complex technical findings into clear operational recommendations
  • have solid knowledge of HV protection and control philosophies, grid codes, switching principles, fault analysis, and industry standards relevant to operating transmission assets
  • bring experience in incident investigation and root-cause analysis, applying structured methodologies to diagnose technical issues and drive long-term reliability improvements
  • collaborate effectively across functions, building strong relationships with operations teams, central engineering experts, OEMs, and contractors to enable informed decision-making and efficient issue resolution
  • communicate clearly and with authority, providing concise technical insights, risk evaluations, and recommendations that support operational leaders in maintaining safe, reliable, and compliant HV system performance.
