Data Engineer

Join us in this role where you’ll support and develop the IT landscape behind Europe Gas, helping us scale our ambitions across biogas, cross-border trading, wholesale contracts, new market entries, flexible contracts, and storage solutions. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our Gas Data Hub in AWS Redshift while also supporting the wider gas business application landscape.

 

Welcome to Trading Express
You’ll be part of Trading Express where you, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for maintaining and developing our Data Warehouse solution in AWS Redshift and supporting the broader Europe Gas IT landscape. The team supports business-critical applications used across gas trading and operations, ensuring reliable data flows, scalable reporting, and efficient decision-making across the portfolio.

 

As a team, we support both the existing Gas Data Hub and surrounding applications, reducing dependency on current developer resources while enabling future growth and technical stability.

 

You’ll play an important role in:

  • maintaining and developing the Gas Data Hub application within AWS Redshift as a Data Engineer
  • supporting and enhancing the broader gas business IT landscape as a developer
  • building and improving ETL processes using pySpark and AWS Glue
  • working with PostgreSQL and Redshift to ensure stable and scalable data solutions
  • supporting existing gas applications and collaborating on future improvements or migrations
  • collaborating with business stakeholders to gather requirements and feedback
  • ensuring clean coding practices, maintainable architecture, and reliable deliver
  • learning and adapting to new technologies as the application landscape evolves.

 

To succeed in the role, you:

  • need strong PostgreSQL experience (mid/advanced)
  • have solid pySpark and Python hands-on experience (mid/advanced)
  • have familiarity with AWS Redshift and AWS Glue (basic/mid)
  • have backend development experience in Java (or C#/.Net if considering migration)
  • have familiarity with good coding practices and maintainable development standards
  • are a team player who cooperates with business to gather requirements and feedback
  • have willingness to learn new technologies as the application evolves
  • exposure to tools and framework such as Git, Airflow, SQL, Spring / Spring Boot, Kubernetes and knowledge of Angular is a plus, but not required.
